Patriots Release Josh Gordon

The New England Patriots have released WR Josh Gordon off of IR, likely with an injury settlement.

Since Gordon’s release was after the trade deadline he must clear waivers to become a free agent; something that doesn’t seem likely with his talent.

The three teams with the highest waiver priority are the Dolphins, Bengals, and Redskins. Of these three teams the better (and less dysfunctional) option for Gordon would be the Bengals where he could line up opposite of the returning AJ Green. The Bengals have the better existing WR corps of these teams so their interest may not be as high as the others.

With Gordon’s past it’s unknown which team will claim him. Hopefully he is picked up by a team that has his best interest at heart. After all a healthy Josh Gordon will be the most successful Josh Gordon.
