Dallas Cowboys running back Ezekiel Elliott is back in Cabo, where he is continuing his holdout for a new contract. The Rich Eisen Show reports Hall of Famer Marshall Faulk is headed there to train with him.
Elliott created speculation when he flew back to Dallas over the weekend but it apparently was just to take the weekend off.
While it doesn’t appear the Cowboys and Elliott are close to agreeing to a deal, Ed Werder reported the team offered to make him one of the two highest-paid running backs in the NFL. Exact figures are not known but they’re believed to be less than Todd Gurley, the highest-paid running back in the league, but more than Le’Veon Bell.
Adam Schefter reports Elliott currently weighs in the low 220s, which would be his lowest weight since his rookie season.
Elliot still has two years remaining on his rookie contract that he signed in 2016, which was for $24.9 million, fully guaranteed and included a $16.3 million signing bonus. Elliot is due to make $3.85 million this season.
Last year, Elliott played in 15 games where he rushed for 1434 yards and six touchdowns. He added 77 receptions for 567 yards and three touchdowns.
