Chargers Coach Reaffirms Melvin Gordon Is Starter, Doubtful To Play Sunday

Chargers head coach Anthony Lynn doesn’t believe RB Melvin Gordon will play this week against the Dolphins.

“Never say never, but doubt he’ll play this weekend,” said Lynn h/t Omar Ruiz.

In regards to Gordon’s role, he remains the starting running back for the Chargers. Lynn confirmed with this:

“He’s our starter. No doubt,” Lynn said. “As soon as Melvin’s ready, he’ll go back. He’ll go back to number one.”

Austin Ekeler, who has been having a great year in Gordon’s absence, will return to his backup role once Gordon is good to go.
