Cowboys And Ezekiel Elliott Close To Completing Six-Year, $90 Million Extension

The Dallas Cowboys and holdout running back Ezekiel Elliott are closing in on a six-year, $90 million contract extension, reports Mike Florio.

The two parties have come to terms on the deal but it is not yet done. According to Florio, while not done, it’s close. Ian Rapoport adds negotiations are in the final stages to make Elliott the highest paid running back in the NFL.

As a six-year, $90 million contract, the deal will have a new-money average of $15 million per year. It would also tie the Cowboys to Elliott for eight years, since there are two years remaining on his rookie contract.

The final structure will determine how long the Cowboys are tied to Elliott but after looking like there was almost no chance of him playing Week 1 against the Giants, it’s almost looking like it could happen.

Stay tuned.
