Fantasy Football – Waiver Wire Week 9 / The Trade Deadline Edition

With all of the trading that’s been going on over the last couple weeks I was sure a blockbuster move would happen before today’s deadline. Unfortunately my crystal ball lied to me. Melvin Gordon and LeVeon Bell are staying put. AJ Green and Robby Anderson are as well. There may not be any major shakeups but I do have some solid players to target for your teams.

Quarterback

I’m not going to list any QB’s this week. It’s the same group of guys that have been available for the last few weeks.

Running Back

Jaylen Samuels – Samuels looks to have a nice workload for the next couple weeks with James Conner spraining his shoulder. The Colts are a tough D but it’s always smart to pick up a guy that will play all 3 downs.

Mark Walton – Previously I said Walton was a good speculative add if you had room, now he is worth adding in all formats. After the Dolphins traded Kenyan Drake, Walton becomes the go to RB in Miami. He is still limited by how bad Miami is but has talent and now opportunity.

Derrius Guice – Guice is already back at practice and will have better blocking since LT Trent Williams has reported to the team. He won’t be back until week 11 but since I like to grab players early I recommend doing it now.

Wide Receiver

Tyrell Williams – Williams is back from injury and scored his 5th TD in as many games. He is Oakland’s number 1 wideout and is a WR2/3 the rest of the year.

DK Metcalf – Seattle’s physical freak rookie is slowly turning it on this year. He isn’t getting a ton of targets but he is getting red zone targets. Those red zone targets turned into 2 TD’s this week. He has a great matchup against Tampa Bay this week and should see the end zone once again.

Josh Gordon – I like to think outside the box a bit on my waiver picks. Gordon was just put on the IR and was dropped by the majority of Fantasy owners. He is expected to be dropped by the Patriots and should be only a week or so away from returning. Hopefully Gordon will be claimed by a team that can offer a lot of upside. If so he could be a high WR2 once more.

Tight End

Darren Fells – Fells has a monster game  against Oakland and will look to build on it. Fells is a solid matchup streamer the rest of the way, his matchups are either very tough or very friendly. Jacksonville this week is the exception with a middle of the road D versus tight ends.

Defense

New York Jets – The Jets have easy opponents 5 of the next 6 weeks. 2 of which are against Miami including this week.
