Giants To Target Jason Garrett As Head Coach If He Becomes Available?

While the Giants are not expected to make a coaching change before the end of the 2019 season, Pat Shurmur could end up being replaced when the season is over. The one thing Shurmur has going for him is the development of quarterback Daniel Jones.

However, Shurmur could be out if Cowboys head coach Jason Garrett becomes available. The Giants would be Garrett’s top choice if he cannot land a new contract in Dallas. In 2014, when New York was deciding whether or not to move on from Tom Coughlin, they were prepared to fire him if they could have landed Garrett. Garrett went on to sign an extension and Coughlin kept him job.

As for Garrett’s future in Dallas in 2019, his contract is up after the season. Jerry Jones is said to be interested in Oklahoma head coach Lincoln Riley and even if he can’t get him, he may be interested in moving on from Garrett.

Both the Giants and Cowboys lost in Week 12.
