The New York Jets have traded the 2015 sixth overall pick, DL Leonard Williams, to the Giants. The G-Men are giving up a third round pick and a 5th that could turn into a 4th should they extend Williams before free agency.
In essence the 3rd round pick is what the Jets would get as a compensatory pick should Williams leave. Since he wasn’t in their future plans they decided to trade him for that and more. The Gang Green are also paying $4M of Williams $6M in order to make the move.
Look for the Jets to continue to try and sell Robby Anderson and possibly others before tomorrow’s trade deadline. The Giants have Janoris Jenkins, Alec Ogletree, and Nate Solder available as well.
