The Titans placed tight end Delanie Walker on injured reserve on Wednesday, officially ending his season.
Walker, 35, was limited to one game last season due to a severe ankle injury. He played in seven games this season before the ankle began giving him problems again. The team was hopeful he would return, as he had resumed practicing but he obviously didn’t make enough progress. Walker will finish the season with 21 receptions for 215 yards and two touchdowns.
The veteran has one year remaining on the two-year, $17 million extension he signed before last season but there’s a chance he gets cut and calls it a career. Jonnu Smith will continue to start at tight end for the Titans.
To fill Walker’s spot on the 53-man roster, the Titans signed kicker Ryan Santos and plan to carry two kickers for now.
