Antonio Brown Works Out For Saints, No Clarity If He’s Eligible To Play

The New Orleans Saints worked out free agent wide receiver Antonio Brown on Friday.

“We’re doing our homework,” Payton said h/t ESPN after the Saints brought in six receivers for the workout. “There would be a number of players that we’ve signed or drafted over the years past — some that have worked out, some that haven’t. The process is something that we take seriously and it’s important relative to the makeup of the team.”

Payton explained to reporters the team would need clarity from the NFL as to whether or not Brown would be eligible to play in the postseason if they were to sign him. He clarified they do not yet have the information.

Saints stud receiver Michael Thomas was limited in practice this week due to a hand injury but is expected to play in Sunday’s game against the Carolina Panthers. The workouts were not related to his status.

The team worked out the following other wide receivers: Tommylee Lewis, Travin Dural, Maurice Harris, Tim White and Reggie Begelton.
