The Dallas Cowboys will be taking a close look at their kicker position and it looks like the Brett Maher era is over. Head coach Jason Garrett stated the following after Maher missed yet another field goal on Thursday:
“Obviously, we have to do a close evaluation of it,” Garrett said h/t Michael Gehlken. “We brought three kickers in earlier in the week. We decided to give Brett an opportunity this week. It didn’t work out. So we have to take a real close, hard look at that.”
Maher has been on the hot seat as the Cowboys worked out kickers last week before deciding to leave him in the position for another week. Maher has struggled all year, hitting just 66.7% of his attempts this year, which doesn’t touch the 80.6% success rate he had last season.
