Los Angeles Chargers head coach Anthony Lynn was headed into the last season of his contract in 2020. However, Adam Schefter of ESPN reports he was given an extension this past week that leaves multiple years on his deal.
It is unclear how many years were added to Lynn’s deal but it gives him a sense of security as the Chargers move into their new stadium next season. With Lynn secured, the franchise must address the quarterback position. Philip Rivers recently moved his family from California to Florida and the Chargers are looking for his successor.
Should the team look in-house, Tyrod Taylor functioned as Rivers’ backup. However, Tom Brady is set for free agency and will undoubtedly garner interest.
In three seasons with the Chargers, Lynn is 26-22. The team struggled to a 5-11 record in 2019, losing six of their last seven games to finish last in the AFC West.
