Chargers RB Melvin Gordon May End Holdout Soon

Chargers RB Melvin Gordon could be ending his holdout soon, reports Adam Schefter.

While no final decisions have been made when he’ll report, he had originally planned to do so in October and could soon be moving up that date.

Gordon, 26, has not played this season or reported to the Chargers in a holdout attempt to land a new contract. He’s currently set to make $5.6 million this season as part of a four-year, $10.669 million deal he signed in 2015.

Gordon has been seeking a new contract, which would pay him in the range of $13 million per season. The Chargers are on record as to saying they would not negotiate a new contract with him this season but had granted him permission to seek a trade. He must report by Week 10 this season for his year to count towards free agency.

Last season, Gordon rushed for 885 yards and 10 touchdowns in 12 games. He added 50 receptions and four receiving touchdowns.
