The Eagles are looking to secure several core players with contract extensions.
After signing offensive lineman Brandon Brooks to a four-year extension on Monday, the Eagles are also in discussions to extend tight end Zach Ertz, tackle Lane Johnson and safety Malcolm Jenkins.
Ertz signed a contract extension in January 2015 and has emerged as one of the best tight ends in the NFL. He’s currently under contract through 2021.
Johnson is considered one of the best right tackles in football. He’s also signed until 2021, however, he’s one failed PED test away from being suspended for 32 games as he was suspended 10 games in 2016 for failing a test.
Jenkins is one of the leaders of the Eagles’ defense but at 32, his age may play a role in how long the team is willing to commit to him. In June, he stated that he feels like he has outplayed his contract. He’s signed through 2020.
