Rob Gronkowski teased a big announcement for Tuesday morning at 9 AM EST on his Instagram story. What he wrote is included below:
“I have a big announcement to make. I can’t wait to drop it on all of you. It’s gonna be fun, it’s gonna be wild, it’s gonna be a good time,” Gronkowski said. “Come check out my Instagram page this Tuesday at 9:00am to hear the news. Lets go.”
Obviously this has resulted in widespread speculation about whether or not Gronkowski will announce his return to football. The 30-year-old tight end announced after last season he was retiring but never officially closed the door on a return.
The last day for the Patriots to give Gronkowski a roster spot to return is Saturday, Nov. 30. If he doesn’t return by then, he cannot come back this season.
Patriots owner Robert Kraft is on record as to saying Gronk is welcome back whenever he wants.
Obviously Gronk’s announcement could be completely unrelated to a return to the league but it won’t stop the speculation.
