Eric Williams wrote to “expect” Los Angeles Chargers running back Melvin Gordon to end his holdout in time for Week 1 in his 53-man roster projection for the team.
Williams provided no further details and the last report on Gordon was that his holdout for a new contract is expected to continue into the season, per Ian Rapoport.
Gordon, who is entering into the final year of a four-year fully guaranteed $10.669 million contract he signed in 2015 with a $6.019 million signing bonus, is seeking $13 million annually. The Chargers have been offering deals with a salary worth around $10 million annually. He stands to make $5.6 million this season but has yet to report to the team in hopes of landing a contract extension.
Last season, Gordon played in 12 games and rushed for 885 yards and 10 touchdowns. He added 50 receptions for 490 yards and four receiving touchdowns.
