Fantasy Football – Waiver Wire Week 14 / The Playoffs??? Edition

You kidding me? Playoffs?!?

Yep it’s that time of year again! The season is over and the most skilled players sprint for the championship truly begins.

Whether it by injury or not, a few fantasy players took some big steps to earning roster spots. The most obvious is the injury to Dalvin Cook who has taken a lot of players to the playoffs. I have a couple options if you need to replace Cook, or if you need to block your opponent from replacing him.

Quarterback

Ryan Fitzpatrick – Fitzmagic is back and ready for the playoffs, maybe. The magic one has been money the last 2 weeks and he has the Jets, Giants, and Bengals the next 3 weeks. You could be rewarded if you’re willing to roll the dice.

Daniel Jones – Eli Manning – The Giants offense could finally be at full strength this week, just in time to work over a Philadelphia defense that just put the magic back in Fitz. With Miami and Washington on deck after, Jones Eli could be a rewarding add.

Running Back

Alexander Mattison – Our own Richard Gray spent last week begging players to pick up Mattison. Now it might be too late. Dalvin Cook went down with a shoulder injury Monday night which flung Mattison into his starting spot. It’s not known if Cook will be able to play this week, and it doesn’t matter. Mattison has looked fantastic when on the field and is the hands down number one player to get this week.

Rashaad Penny – Don’t have first waiver priority or enough FAAB for Mattison? Your next best player is likely Penny. Seattle’s offense looks primed to roll with 2 quality backs, just like they did Monday. Penny has back to back games with over 100 yards and should continue to roll.

Patrick Laird – Miami lost another running back when Kalen Ballage went down. Laird is the next man up and showed a nice ability to catch the ball. It’s not a perfect situation but Laird could surprise with his new opportunity.

Wide Receiver

James Washington – Washington just had his first 100 yard game and is clicking with Delvin Hodges. He will be easier to trust if JuJu is out again.

John Ross III – Ross was just activated by the Bengals and is their most talented receiving option. He may be on a snap count but could turn into a solid WR2 next week.

Tight End

Tyler Higbee – The Rams TE had a big day with Everett out and plays a Seattle defense this week that is bad against tight ends. If Everett misses another game, Higbee could blow up once again.

Defense

Cleveland Browns – With Cleveland playing Baltimore week 16, you won’t be taking the Browns to the Super Bowl. (Sorry couldn’t help myself.) If you play them this week verses Cincinnati, they might help you get there.
