Gardner Minshew Officially Named Starting Quarterback For Jaguars

Nick Foles‘ time is up as the starting quarterback of the Jacksonville Jaguars.

Head coach Doug Marrone announced on Monday that rookie quarterback Gardner Minshew is once again the team’s starting quarterback. He’ll be under center when the Jags face the Los Angeles Chargers in Week 14.

As previously reported here on NFLNews.co, Foles was benched after the first half of yesterday’s game against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. He threw one interception and lost two fumbles in the first half.

Minshew completed 15-of-26 passes for 141 yards with one touchdown and one interception. The Jaguars lost the game 28-11.

Minshew was forced to start for the Jaguars earlier this season when Foles broke his left clavicle in Week 1 against the Chiefs. He threw 13 touchdowns and four interceptions for 2,285 yards coming into today.

In March, the Jaguars signed Foles to a four-year, $88 million deal with $50,125,000 in guaranteed money.
