Former New England Patriots tight end Rob Gronkowski will not play in the NFL in 2019.
Gronkowski’s deadline to return to action came and went last Saturday at 4 PM EST, which was the last business day before a Week 13 game. By league rules, players on the reserve list are no longer able to apply for reinstatement for the current season after that deadline.
Gronk could opt to return after the 2019 season as he can file the necessary paperwork to apply for reinstatement following Super Bowl LIV next year. While Gronk called it a career over the offseason, he has been reluctant to rule out a return.
