Updating a previous story, Detroit Lions linebacker Jarrad Davis was diagnosed with a high-ankle sprain, according to Ian Rapoport.
Rapoport notes Davis is already feeling better and it’s a long way from what many thought last night. Essentially the team leader on the Lions defense, Davis is an essential piece heading into the 2019 season.
Davis was carted off the field during Friday’s preseason game against the Buffalo Bills.
Davis, 24, was picked by the Lions in the first-round of the 2017 NFL Draft. He’s in year three of a four-year $10.96 million contract he signed. He’ll make base salaries of $1.46 million and $1.96 million over the next two seasons.
Last year, Davis played in all 16 games for the Lions and recorded 100 tackles, six sacks, a forced fumble, a recovery and five pass defenses.
