Washington Redskins head coach Jay Gruden expects tight end Jordan Reed to be available for Week 1 against the Philadelphia Eagles, reports John Keim.
“We’re quite confident that Jordan will be fine,” Gruden said via ESPN.
Reed entered the concussion protocol after a devastating hit by Falcons safety Keanu Neal in Thursday’s preseason game. This is Reed’s seventh reported concussion.
Reed, 29, battled toe and foot issues each of the past two seasons and this was the first offseason he didn’t require surgery or need to rehab an injury in the last three years. He’s never played a full 16-game season in his career.
Last season, he played in 13 games and caught 54 receptions for 558 yards and two touchdowns.
