Offensive lineman Jermon Bushrod is retiring, according to Jane Slater. He’ll sign a one-day contract with the Saints and make a formal announcement during the Saints’ final preseason game on Thursday.
Bushrod started at left tackle for the Saints in Super Bowl XLIV and met with the Panthers in March. He was one of less than 20 players still active from the 2007 NFL Draft.
Bushrod spent time with the Bears and Dolphins after his initial run with the Saints. He returned to New Orleans in 2018.
Last season, the offensive tackle started six of 11 games, filling in at left tackle for injured Terron Armstead.
