Panthers QB Cam Newton will not play in his team’s Week 3 matchup against the Cardinals due to a foot injury, according to Adam Schefter.
The Panthers will turn to backup QB Kyle Allen, who will draw the start on Sunday.
The last we heard, Cam was wearing a walking boot. He came out of last Thursday’s game against the Bucs with a sore foot and has not practiced all week.
Head coach Ron Rivera thinks Allen is ready but has to speed himself up.
“I think Kyle’s more than ready,” said Rivera via Joe Person. “I think he’s got a really good arm, makes good decisions. He just needs to speed himself up a bit.”
