Panthers QB Cam Newton Back In Walking Boot, Return Timeline Uncertain

Panthers QB Cam Newton is back in a walking boot, per teammate S Eric Reid via Brendan Marks.

Head coach Ron Rivera spoke to reporters today, noting he found out after the team’s Week 2 game against the Buccaneers that Cam’s foot was sore. He confirmed Newton’s injury was to his foot and not a different injury, reports Marks. There is no timeline on how long he will miss.

The Panthers plan to start Kyle Allen at QB in Newton’s absence, according to Rivera via Marks.

“I think Kyle’s more than ready,” said Rivera via Joe Person. “I think he’s got a really good arm, makes good decisions. He just needs to speed himself up a bit.”

As we reported here at NFLNews.co, Cam did not practice on Tuesday after aggravating his foot injury.
