The Los Angeles Chargers announced Monday that quarterback Philip Rivers will enter free agency and will not return next season.
Rivers has been with the team for 16 seasons and has started a franchise-best 224 consecutive games. He’s an eight-time Pro Bowler.
Rivers’ move out of Los Angeles was expected as rumors at the end of last season were the team planned to move on. Rivers all but confirmed those rumors when he moved his family to Florida.
There is interest from the Tampa Bay Buccaneers as the team weighs what to do with Jameis Winston. Jenna Laine of ESPN is reporting the Bucs’ interest in Rivers is legitimate although the knock on him is similar to the knock on Winston – too many interceptions.
