The Oakland Raiders have placed veteran running back Doug Martin on injured reserve with the intent of releasing him, according to Tom Pelissero.
Martin, 30, is a former first-round pick with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in 2012. He will look to sign with another team once officially released from the Raiders.
Martin was released by the Bucs last year and he signed a one-year contract with the Raiders. He’d agreed to a another one-year deal with Oakland this offseason.
The Raiders’ backfield will be led by rookie Josh Jacobs with Jalen Richard, DeAndre Washington, James Butler and Mack Brown also in the mix.
