Saints QB Drew Brees May Be A Game-Time Decision This Week

Saints coach Sean Payton told reporters on Wednesday that QB Drew Brees practiced today and may be a game-time decision on Sunday, per Kyle Odegard.

Mike Triplett adds that Brees said this when asked if he was playing this week, “That’s the plan.”

Brees’ availability will depend on how he feels this week. Brees told reporters if he tells Sean Payton he’s ready, Payton will believe him.

Brees underwent surgery last month to repair a torn ligament in his throwing thumb.  He suffered the injury in the Saints’ Week 2 game against the Rams. Brees, 40, has spent his last 12 seasons in New Orleans and is entering the final year of a two-year, $50 million contract that includes $27 million guaranteed.
