The Vikings have waived wide receiver Josh Doctson and promoted linebacker Cameron Smith in a corresponding transaction.
Doctson, 26, was a hyped up receiver drafted in the first-round of the 2016 NFL Draft. He had a lost rookie season with the Redskins due to injury and never lived up to his potential. The Vikings signed him this year when Washington cut him but he didn’t record a single reception.
The Vikings could be close to getting star wide receiver Adam Thielen back and it’s a good thing because wide receiver Chad Beebe, who was on IR, recently underwent surgery on his injured ankle. He’s out the rest of the year.
