Atlanta Falcons owner Arthur Blank told The Athletic that the team and wide receiver Julio Jones are “very, very close” to a deal on a contract extension, per Jeff Schultz.
In fact, Blank expects a deal to get done this week. Blank continued:
“I’d be surprised and disappointed if we didn’t get it done this week. … I think it’s very reasonable to assume it will get done this week.”
Jones, 30, is scheduled to make $12.5 million this season and $11.426 million next season. However, this new contact should make him the highest-paid wide receiver in the National Football League. He’s posted five straight seasons with at least 1,300 receiving yards.
