Jets QB Sam Darnold Could Miss 3-7 Weeks With Mono

Jets QB Sam Darnold could be facing a three to seven week absence with mononucleosis, reports Ian Rapoport.

Darnold was shockingly ruled out for the Jets’ Week 2 Monday Night Football matchup against the Cleveland Browns with the virus. The team was originally hopeful he would be good to return after the team’s Week 4 bye, however, Rapoport notes that timetable may be “overly optimistic.”

Darnold is currently quarantined until the virus subsides. It likely had something to do with his 28-for-41 passing for 175 yards performance in Week 1.

The Jets will start Trevor Siemian at QB in his absence.
