Nov. 16, 2019 5:30 PM EST Update: Tagovailoa is out for the rest of the season after suffering a dislocated hip with a posterior wall fracture, per Aaron Suttles.
Original: Alabama starting quarterback Tua Tagovailoa had to be carted off the field during today’s game against Mississippi State.
Early reports suggest he suffered a hip injury, while it’s also being reported he was screaming in pain and suffered a bloody nose.
A runner-up to the Heisman trophy in 2018, Tagovailoa underwent surgery to repair a high ankle sprain last month. He returned in three weeks to throw four touchdowns in last week’s loss to LSU.
Prior to going out, Alabama led Mississippi State 35-7 with Tagovailoa completing 14 of 18 passes for 256 yards and two touchdowns.
Tagovailoa is widely seen as a top draft pick in next year’s NFL draft, with a significant injury possibly damaging that and costing him millions of dollars.
