Saints QB Drew Brees provided an update on his surgically repaired right thumb during an appearance on WWL Radio on Wednesday night.
Brees stated his rehab is going as planned and he hopes to be throwing an NFL ball “sooner rather than later. … From a rehab perspective, we are fast-tracking this thing as fast as we can,” reports Jeff Duncan.
Brees underwent surgery last month to repair the torn ligament for an injury he suffered in the Saints’ Week 2 game against the Rams.
He hasn’t played since leaving that game but began throwing again last week.
Brees, 40, has spent his last 12 seasons in New Orleans and is entering the final year of a two-year, $50 million contract that includes $27 million guaranteed.
