Dolphins Favorites To Land Jadeveon Clowney

The Miami Dolphins believe they are the favorites to land Texans star linebacker Jadeveon Clowney, according to Armando Salguero and Adam H. Beasley. As previously reported here on NFLNews.co, Clowney recently met with Dolphins coach Brian Flores and it went well.

Since Clowney has not yet signed his franchise tender, he has some leverage about where he gets traded. A report surfaced yesterday two of his preferred destinations were Seattle and Philadelphia.

It’s believed a trade between the Dolphins and Texans involving Clowney would not include a first-round pick to Houston from Miami. The Dolphins are also against giving up offensive tackle Laremy Tunsil, as previously reported.

Dolphins running backs Kenyan Drake or Kalen Ballage could be involved with draft picks to make the trade work, with the Texans in need of a back following the season-ending injury to Lamar Miller.

Jason Fitzgerald believes the Dolphins would have to increase Clowney’s tag number to in excess of $20 million to land him. Also there is a scenario where Miami trades for Clowney and rather than signing him to a long-term deal, flip him for a first-round draft pick next year.
