Confrontation With Doug Marrone Has Jaguars CB Jalen Ramsey Wanting Out

Following up on news that Jaguars CB Jalen Ramsey wants a trade out of Jacksonville, Ian Rapoport reports the request stems from from his frustration with how he’s being used and from a confrontation with coach Doug Marrone on Sunday. It’s a situation that has been steadily building.

Rapoport adds that Ramsey prefers to play man-to-man and lockdown receivers, while the Jaguars have had him playing zone.

In an interview last year, Ramsey said his two ideal teams to play for would be the Titans or the Raiders once they move to Las Vegas.

When the Jaguars informed Ramsey they would not negotiate a new contract for him this year, he said he would not be offering a hometown discount next contract.

Ramsey was selected in the first-round of the 2016 NFL Draft by the Jaguars. He’s quickly established himself as one of the best defensive backs in the game and is playing under a four-year, $23.35 million contract. He is set to make a base salary of $3.63 million this season.

Jacksonville picked up his fifth-year option that will cost $13 million for 2020 and will become fully guaranteed on the first day of the 2020 league year.

So far this season, Ramsey has recorded nine tackles, one pass defense and no interceptions through two games.
